NorthStar Foundation Announced as Recipient of National Level the Playing Field Youth Sports Grant by Gatorade and Hudl

OMAHA, Neb.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug 29, 2022–

After reviewing applications from across the United States, Gatorade and Hudl have announced that the NorthStar Foundation (NorthStar) in Omaha, Nebraska, is a 2022 Level the Playing Field grant recipient alongside two other recipients in California and Texas.

In its third year, the Level the Playing Field grant recognizes deserving organizations who are making a considerable impact on youth sports in their communities.

“NorthStar was chosen as a grant recipient this year because of its dedication to creating leadership and confidence-building opportunities for young men in North Omaha. We’re incredibly impressed with their athletic programs and excited to see how Hudl technology can help them continue to grow and make a lasting impact,” said Hudl’s Jasmine Kingsley, chief people and legal officer.

NorthStar’s mission is to change young men’s lives through programming that supports, challenges, inspires and instills a life rooted in education, self-discipline and service to the community. NorthStar offers programming in three key areas of focus: Academics, Adventure and Athletics.

“NorthStar is thrilled to have the opportunity to build the capacity for all our sports teams, thanks to the Level the Playing Field grant,” said NorthStar Foundation President Scott Hazelrigg. “The success of NorthStar players on the field is really a metaphor for their success off the field and in life. We are truly pleased to be able to share their stories.”

The recipients will be featured in a Hudl original video series, presented by Gatorade, highlighting the selfless mentors who dedicate themselves to lifting up student-athletes in their communities. The series premiered with NorthStar’s episode on August 16, 2022, with the two additional episodes launching in subsequent weeks. In addition, each grant recipient will receive three years of access to Hudl’s suite of sports video and data software and solutions.

“We were blown away by the thoughtfulness and commitment from so many different organizations that applied during this grant cycle,” said Hudl’s Emma Hulsey, media operations manager and grant program facilitator. “It’s rewarding to learn how these organizations are bringing equity to youth sports in so many different ways. It truly made our job tough to select this year’s recipients.”
