Northstar Soccer

Boys in 3rd to 8th grade are invited to play soccer at NorthStar in both competitive and recreational leagues.

Boys in grades 3-8 from all over the Omaha metro are welcome to play soccer at NorthStar – and they can do so while playing for other organizations. We began offering soccer in 2019 in partnership with Football for the World Foundation, whose mission is to improve the lives of youth through football.

NorthStar soccer teams are teams divided by age: Under 14 (U14), Under 12 (U12), and Under 10 (U10). We play in two leagues –SOKA (recreational) and Nebraska (competitive).

NorthStar soccer is a great way for young men to stay active, compete, and improve their own playing skills. Read on to learn more about our season, practices, team assignments and more.

Eligibility

Students in grades 3-8 from all over the Omaha metro are welcome to play NorthStar soccer. Players can join a NorthStar team while also playing for another organization.

Season

NorthStar offers two soccer sessions. The Fall semester session runs from August to October and is for grades 3-8. The Spring semester session runs from March to May and is for grades 3-8.

Team Assignments

Because NorthStar soccer is recreational option for grades 3-8, where we focus on learning fundamentals and playing as a hobby, everyone who wants to play will make a soccer team. We assign players to teams based on age level and experience.

Practices & Games

Our soccer teams practice twice per week for 1-1.5 hrs. The exact timing of practices is determined by individual team coaches. In general games are played on Saturdays between 8 am and 5pm.

Conditioning

Conditioning includes out-of-season clinics, scrimmages, skill workshops, and sport mindfulness activities.

Bonding & Mentorship

Each year, players from the Creighton, UNO and Union soccer teams come to tutor/mentor and run camps. NorthStar soccer players also have access to Football for the World group activities, as well as special team outings determined by individual team coaches.
