Nebraska is home to 12,000 school-aged black male youth (ages 5 to 19 years old) and over 9,300 of these young men reside in the Greater Omaha Metropolitan area.

40% of these young men reside in zip codes 68104 and 68111, which comprises NorthStar’s area of geographic focus.

Schools

The majority of young men served by NorthStar reside in two North Omaha zip codes with the highest concentration of families living in poverty in Douglas County: 68104 and 68111.

Utilizing both organization-owned and contracted bus services, NorthStar provides transportation from schools with high enrollment every day after school. NorthStar is currently working with local school districts to determine transportation options for the 2020-2021 school year.
